Antlers vs. Horns

Q: My wife saw an ad for a necklace that stated it was made from polished beads crafted from naturally shed water buffalo horn.I was under the impression that they were not shed .
Was I wrong?

A: Naturally shed - no way! Water Buffalos are members of the cow (Bovidae) family and their horns are permanent, not temporary. So, they have either cut the horns off or have removed the horns from a dead animal. They are definitely NOT shed.
