Pine Parenthood

Q: Are there any evergreen trees that do not have pine cones?
A: The term "evergreen" is a bit misleading. The public uses the term evergreen to identify any kind of tree or shrub that keeps it leaves all year and this includes the pines, spruce, firs, azaleas, hollies, rhododendrons and many other kinds of different plants. Evergreen can be a helpful term up to a point but not one that scientists use to identify trees. Although pines and spruces and firs are evergreens (they do keep their leaves all year), they really are conifers - all conifers have cones. I hope this helps.
