Co-existing with Outdoor Spiders
Posted by Edna Lake on September 18, 2008
Q: The siding of my home is full of spider webs. I don't want to harm the spiders, but it has become very unsightly. Can you give me any suggestions on what to do? Thanks.
State: New York
Habitat: suburban/yard
A: Spiders spin webs quite often, some daily. So, removing the webs won't really do much, if any, damage to your spiders. Nice to see you being so considerate of these little guys - they do help keep insect numbers down.
You will probably find that on removal of the webs, some begin to return but I would guess that they'll be few and soon, with cold weather, that will stop. Thanks for asking and good luck with your cleaning.

A: We've had a bit of trouble with our server today so I'm not sure you received my message. I'll send a second just to make sure.
