A-luring Tails

Q: I live in the Atlanta GA area and I continue to find baby snakes in my front yard (spring through fall). They are usually 6-8 inches in length with a brown base color and rows of brown spots down the back forming a horizontal pattern with a white belly. The head is triangular and darker with a dark spot behind each eye. I live adjacent to a creek and have two small and very curious children. Do you have any idea what type of snake this may be?
