Q: Found this snake sunning on asphalt. Can you identify it for us?

A: Your snake is a harmless Eastern Hognose Snake (Heterodon platirhinos). These are interesting snakes that will "play dead" when threatened or hiss and flatten their head making them appear dangerous. I couldn't tell from your photos but if the nose had a bit of an upturn to it, it's definitely the Hognose. Hope this helps.
