Q: found a snake,about 8-10 inches long. black with a yellow ring around its neck. in my house

A: You found one of our most beautiful snakes, the Northern Ringneck Snake (Diadophis punctatus). These snakes are totally harmless and never get very large. You can see some photos of this animal and learn a bit more about it at www.enaturalist.org
