Bird Eggs

Q: We are getting a pool put in, and we found 3 Barn Swallow eggs inside our close-line poles that are shaped like T's that we had to move. What should I do with them? Any suggestions?

A: I'm having a little trouble visualizing what this looks like. The eggs/nest is inside a close-line pole? Guess if the pool is going in where the pole is now, I'd begin moving the pole a couple of feet each day until it is out of the way of the construction. If you don't move the pole too far at any one time, the adults should continue to incubate and/or feed the babies. My own close-line pole is aluminum and very light but maybe yours is not easily moved. If you can't move it easily, then you'll probably lose the nest if you have to make one large move of the pole. Sorry, but that's the best I can offer. Good luck.
