Pine Parenthood

Q: We have a Scotch pine that was cut down by mistake. Wondering if there is any way to get a limb or anything off the tree to grow a new tree?

A: I'm afraid not. Although deciduous trees often will sprout from a stump or severely cut back trunk, the conifers will not in almost all species. You're going to have to start all over with another tree. Scots (or Scotch) Pines grow quickly so you should have a decent tree in a short while if you can put something in that's not too small. Good luck!
