Animals that lose baby teeth

Q: Are humans the only animals that lose baby teeth?
State: New Jersey
A: Not at all! In fact, most mammals have both baby and adult teeth in their development. Although fish and reptiles can lose and grow teeth throughout their lifetime, mammals do not follow this pattern. Teeth are specially adapted for the foods that a mammal eats. Scientists believe that it is very important how the teeth meet or how they mesh when chewing, and this requires that they not come and go at will.
