Pine Parenthood

Q: I live in Florida. What time of year, typically, do slash pines, sand pines and loblolly pines drop their cones?

State: Florida

A: I had to look this up to be sure.

According to my information, no specific month is given but both the Slash Pine and Loblolly Pine drop their cones about a year after their cones have opened to release their seeds. The Sand Pine cones may remain on the tree for years so it's hard to tell when they'll drop.

Sorry I can't be more specific than this. Thanks for asking.
