Pine Parenthood

Q: Are There any good sites on the web that talk about how to start your own pine trees from seeds? Mainly Scotch pine and Norway Spruce.

A: You should be able to find plenty of information on conifer seed germination and growth online. I went to Google and found this Nebraska site ianrpubs.unl.edu that has lots of good info. Hope this gets you started.

Both the Scots (also called Scotch) Pine and Norway Spruce are introduced species. You may want to try growing some native species too. Depending on your local, find out what species grow naturally in your area and see if you can collect seeds from these and then go from there. This can make a fun and educational project for the whole family to undertake. Best of growing.
