Humming bird feeders

Q: When should the humming bird feeders be taken down in east central New Brunswick,Canada ?

State: New Brunswick

A: There isn't a quick or pat answer to this. I've found that in central New York State, my hummingbirds leave in early September. However, I like to leave my feeder up a week or so longer to ensure that any migrating birds can stop for a bit of food if they wish. I realize that the range of the Ruby-throat doesn't go much farther north than where you are but I guess I'd still leave my feeder up well after (a week or 10 days) you aren't seeing "your" birds anymore. Hope this helps. Thanks for asking.
