Outside Heat

Q: Note: I don't have html capable email.
My question: I have been told that spiders have internal body heat that would measeure about 105 degrees. I always thought that insects were exothermic. Which is correct? Thanks
A: You are correct - spiders are ectothermic. Birds do have a rather high body temperature and 105F may be found but certainly not spiders. Of course, a spider on a 105F degree day could get to that temperature but I could believe it would kill it.
