Antlers vs. Horns

Q: Can you tell me an approximate date that bucks drop their antlers in central Mississippi?
A: I can give you an "approximate" date but it's rather broad. Male White-tailed Deer drop their antlers from late December through February but in south Florida, they may lose them earlier. Keep in mind that a given male in your area may drop his on the "early side" while another in the same area may lose his "late" - making it difficult to pinpoint a very exact time.
