Bird call sounds like frog?

Q: Yesterday morning I heard what I thought was a frog outside our house (we've never seen a frog here in 7 years.) It started up again & receded as if it flew away—then ultimately moved closer again. This lasted about 5 minutes. We're at 5500 ft in elevation—arid montane habitat. We have a seasonal creek—snow melt—but it's long since dried up this year. The call was not a ribbit, but did have a ribbit-ribbit cadence. I do watch birds & am fairly familiar w/ our common, local birds, & this was unfamiliar.

A: Nannette, I have no idea, but if someone told me that here in the east I would say that it could be a Flycather species. Let me ask a few more questions that may help me narrow down the possibilites. What county was the observation made in? If you saw the bird describe it's size as compared to a Robin? Any other physical charicteristics (i.e. pumping its tail, color, etc.))? was it a two not song/call? Let me know and I'll keep working on it.
