Q: Could a person with a very sensitive nose detect the smell of an ant's odor trail?
A: No. The odor trail is extremely light but the ants are able to identify it with their antennae, which have special receptors for receiving this information. If you were to place your nose closely over an ant trail, you'd most likely smell the earth and little else.
