Whales

Q: I watched the dicovery channel one night and they said that whales "sing" to one another. And I was just wondering if it is actually singing or are they communicating with one another in there own "whale language"? Thank you.

A: Singing is just our word for what they're doing. The sounds are more like high-pitched squeaks and squeals. These sounds are indeed communication and are able to travel enormous distances in their watery environment. So yes, it's just the whales' language.
