Q: COULD YOU PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF A PINE CONE CAN BE PLANTED.THANK YOU NANN1E@BELLSOUTH.NET

A: The seeds that a pine cone contains, not the cone itself, will germinate and grow, given the right conditions. If the cone is mature and the seeds that have been released are ripe they can be planted. Please read about how to prepare the seeds and soil for planting in the answers to some of our other questions. Good luck!

A: The pine cone is a "holder" for the seeds of a pine tree. The cone in itself, is not a seed. Think of the cone like a pineapple. Each scale holds a single seed. As the cone opens, the seed falls out.
