hatching chicken eggs

Posted by Nicole Halada on March 17, 2006

Q: I know that I need an incubator, but what else do I need to know about hatching chicken eggs in a classroom?

A: I have a few web sites for you that should help. There are many others so you should be awash in instructions. Some of the school biological suppy houses also have instructions with their incubation materials and this may answer your questions too. You didn't mention your grade level so I hope I'm hitting it correctly with at least one of these links. Do keep in mind that what happens after the chicks hatch is important. It's an important lesson for students to realize that there is now a "responsibility" to the live chicks so I hope you have some adopters lined up. Good luck to you on your project - the students will love it.
