Squirrel's nest

Posted by Plen Dickson on March 10, 2006

Q: Do squirrels build nests in trees? In the woods I see what look like large nests made from limbs and twigs. They are usually about 2 feet in diameter and quite porous. Are they just natural phenomenon or are they made by animals?

Thanks

A: Sounds to me as though you are indeed seeing squirrel nests. Keep in mind that hawks also make rather large nests but take a look at this site and maybe this will answer your questions. Take a look at www.enaturalist.org

Hope this helps. Thanks for asking.
