sparrow pecking at window

Q: today this sparrow was pecking at the kitchen window for several hours. why do you think it was doing this

A: You're a couple of months too early with your question! I'm doing a unit on the very behavior you're seeing for the week of April 24.
Your sparrow sees his reflection in the window and is trying to chase that "intruder" away. You may notice that the sparrow only does this at certain times of the day or maybe not on cloudy days or whatever. But, as long as it can see a good reflection of itself, it will do what it can to chase that other male sparrow away. It's kind of sad but then, no one ever told him about mirrors and reflections.
