mice as pests

Q: I can't keep mice from coming into my house every fall even though I with the help of friends have made numerous circuits of the house exterior and sealed all of the possible entry points to no avail!! Every year I catch about a dozen but seem to miss one that damages clothing in drawers, etc

Habitat: field/meadow

A: Mice can be a real nuisance when they enter homes. I too have to rid my garage of mice every fall as soon as the weather cools down. It sounds to me that you've done the best that you can but they're still able to find entrance into your home anyway - it doesn't take a very large opening for them to use. You could get the jump on the mice each fall by putting out poison (the rodent-specific kind) or traps BEFORE they begin entering your house and this might stop them before they do any damage. Of course, a cat in the house would also help. Good luck.
