Butterflies

Q: Are butterflies cold-blooded or warm-blooded

Habitat: field/meadow

State: Virginia

Habitat: field/meadow

A: All insects, and that includes butterflies and moths, are cold-blooded. Insects can not maintain their own body temperature above their surrounding environment in most cases. There are some that can raise their bodies temperature by beating their wings really hard but this only lasts as long as they're very active. Some insects also will sun themselves to raise their own body's temperature but again, this is only temporary. Thanks for asking, and I hope this helps.
