possiums

Q: we have a possium living in our barn with our other animals, infact he is sleeping in the cats bed. Are they dangerous or should they be of any concern?

Habitat: suburban/yard

State: Minnesota

Habitat: suburban/yard

A: You shouldn't have anything to fear from an Opossum. These marsupials are quite docile and often live in close association with humans. In the past 50 or so years, these "southern" mammals have steadily moved northward and are now living in the southern 2/3's of Minnesota. Opossums do not hibernate but on cold days/nights they'll stay in their shelters. But when the temp isn't too cold, they'll be out and about looking for food, usually at night. So, don't worry about your new "boarder", you shouldn't have any problems. Thanks for asking.
