Q: what is the habitat of a possium like

Habitat: suburban/yard

State: District of Columbia

Habitat: suburban/yard

A: Opossums are common in deciduous (trees that lose their leaves) woods often near water as their preferred habitat. But these adaptable animals have also extended their habitats into many suburbs and farms and seem to do well in close association with humans. It's very common to have an Opossum living in a burrow under a nearby outbuilding or even under ones porch. Although they may seem a bit scary, they aren't dangerous and are most active at night when people and pets are not likely to come in contact with them. Hope this helps. Thanks for asking.
