Birds

Q: I was wondering which species of birds of prey is legal to keep as a domesticated pet. Like an owl or hawks ect...

A: There is a Federal law that prohibits the possession of most of our North American migratory birds and this includes the all of the hawks and owls. There are very strict regulations concerning hawks and owls and only a few institutions can have these birds in captivity. Foreign species, like the parrots, finches, lovebirds, parakeets, etc are not under this law so you can purchase these in pet stores. If you want to have a bird, I'd go to a pet store and see what's available.
