Q: Does using red light have importance in raising/growing earhwprms?
A: Although worms don't have eyes, they are able to sense light. They're able to sense most of the spectrum of light (white light is made up of all the colors of the spectrum) but not red light. So one can observe worms at night using a red light when they're most active on the soil surface, without disturbing them. People who collect earthworms at night for fishing use this technique to help them gather them up. Knowing this bit of science can help people with an everyday activity. Neat!
