Poison Ivy
Posted by Alice Gauthier on September 26, 2005
Q: I have a severe case of Poison Ivy and cannot get rid of it. Tried so many things, I would not know where to start. The other problem is that I am allergic to baking soda which was one of the suggestions I got. Tried creams, gels, sprays to no avail. Now although the itch is not getting any better, the burn is worst. I am experimenting with cucumbers and oatmeal. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Alice

A: Boy, do I feel for you! I too had a bad case once so I know how miserable you must feel. Sounds as though you're trying many "home" remedies. If I were you, I'd go to my doctor and see what he/she can help you with. Cortisone cream is what I used and it gave me quick relief but your doctor will know best. I must admit that I prefer using healing approaches that are less potent but I'm sure you want to get some relief soon.

My very best to you. I hope too that you've gotten a good look at Poison Ivy so you won't come in contact with it again!!
