naturalist

Q: What would you say is a "naturalist?" Who would you say are famous naturalists of past and present?
A: The term "naturalist" is defined differently by people - I doubt any two people would come up with the same definition. In general, to me it's a person who learns from and shares knowledge of the natural world around them. This can take a variety of forms in science, literature, philosophy and art.
I have a few names you can see that I feel are considered well-known naturalists. This list is only a small portion of what might be available. My short list includes: Louis Agassiz, John Muir, Rachael Carson, Roger Tory Peterson, Charles Darwin, Donrad Lorenz, Gregor Mendel and Aldo Leopold. Hope this helps.
