Fat Flies

Q: Are there any natural pesticides to spray on the outside of the house to prevent their coming indoors . Are there any natural pesticided for them indoors?
State: Vermont
A: Boy, I sure don't know of any natural pesticides to spray on the outside of your house. Even if there were one, you'd have to spray at just the right time to be effective and that would be difficult to determine. As you probably already know, older homes with lots of cracks and crevices are especially vulnerable to Cluster Flies but even newer homes can have their share too. It may not be much consolation, but these flies don't carry any diseases so you don't need to worry about that.
If you do have problems with Cluster Flies this winter, guess I'd get out the vaccuum cleaner with extension attachment and just suck them up. Sorry I can't be more help to you but that's the best I can suggest..
