Kangaroo mouse

Q: Does the "kangaroo" mouse live in Pennsylvania?

A: The Kangaroo Rats (genus Dipodomys)and Kangaroo Mice (genus Microdipodops) are only found in the western part of North America. There are 2 species of Jumping Mice that may be confused with the Kangaroo Rats/Mice that do live in Pennsylvania however. Jumping mice live in wetter habitat than the Kangaroo Rats and Mice and do not have the big-headed look of the western Kangaroos.

If you're looking for a good mammal field guide you might want to check out the Kaufman Focus Guides put out by Houghton Mifflin Book Co. Thanks for asking.
