Q: What kinds of birds do Barn Owls (tyto alba) eat?
A: Megan
Although Barn Owls eat mostly rodents (voles for the most part), they do eat other animals including birds. Those birds in the literature (what people have written about in scientific papers) that have been eaten by Barn Owls includes pigeons, jays, sparrows, blackbirds, starlings, towhees, flickers, and even bluebirds. Remember that carnivors are opportunists meaning that if they come upon an animal that they can easily catch, even if they don't usually eat that kind of animal, they may just do so - when you're hungry, one can't be too picky.
