Cough it Up

Q: Have you ever found anything else in the owl pellets beside bones and fur?

A: Lindsey- I haven't but I have heard of people finding small bits of other colorful objects on rare occasions. One interesting object that is regularly regurgitated by insect-eating birds are the wing covers (elytra) of beetles. These can be rather large, hard, often very colorful and not digestible so birds regularly regurgitate these.
