Q: Has and owl ever coughed up an owl pellet that is different colors depending on what is ate?
A: Yes, if what they can't eat is a certain color, it will show in the pellets. A gray mouse would have gray hairs and the pellet would look rather gray, a brown mouse would have brown hairs and its pellet would look rather brown. Captive owls are often fed white mice and, as you would expect, the pellets are whitish in color.
