A-luring Tails

Q: I live in NW Georgia, down a dirt road, next to the power lines. I see big 'ol king snakes crossing the road almost daily.I respect snakes and have no wish to harm them in any way.But I encountered a snake yesterday that I have never seen before.I have two dachshunds that found this thing on the powerlines.I have to tell you it was the biggest snake I have ever seen.It had to be over 6 feet long and it was a pale (almost white-but not albino) with black markings down its back.It was as big around as a man's arm.But what made this so strange was the way it reacted to me. I could hear it before I could see it.Very loud non stop hissing, when I got to it, it literally "stood" straight up almost eye level. It was very aggressive. Normally snakes don't scare me and I am comforted by the fact that there are a lot of king snakes around-but I have never EVER come across a snake that size and that aggressive or that color. I pulled my dogs away and let him go about his way.I would really like to know what kind of snake it could be.We built our house out here 8 months ago and I realize we have definately invaded thier territory, because we have lots of critters that show up in our yard from turkeys to baby deer but this was something! It acted like a cobra, that is the only way to decribe it.I'm not crazy.Got any ideas?
