A-luring Tails

Q: I caught a baby snake last evening while raking. I thought at first it was a nightcrawler/worm but on closer inspection discovered it was a snake. It did not have a pattern on it but b/c of it's coloring I was hesitant to let it stay in my yard.
It is 4-5 inches long, skinny, and solid mud brown with a redish/ copper colored belly. It's head is so little that I can't tell if it's head and eyes are shaped like a copperhead's. From what I have read this morning, it may not be a copperhead (no yellow tail).
Note* I do not have water on my property. It is heavily wooded though (North Georgia). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
