A-luring Tails

Q: Hi, we have 14 acres with a small pond that is stream fed. The man who brush hogs for us just finished and said the pond is full of cotton mouths and water moccasins and that the "snakes are bad this year". Do you have any advice on how to handle this situation. I am concerned for the safety of my dogs and my family. We have hawks around the place and rat snakes and rabbits and coyotes. This pond will dry up as summer progresses leaving a small space filled with water at one end. Should we just stay away from that area or take some type of action to reduce the population or ? Thanks for your help. Hutchins, Texas
